Emirates airline from the UAE completely switches to Airbus A380 and Boeing 777

Air carrier Emirates from the United Arab Emirates abandoned the last Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft in its fleet, thus becoming the first airline in the world to operate only with the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 on passenger flights.

In accordance with the strategy of providing passengers with exceptionally excellent experience and improving environmental performance, Emirates Airlines from the UAE “fired” the last Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft, becoming the first and only airline in the world to operate a fleet that consists only of Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 on passenger flights.

Emirates previously “retired” the A6-EAC. The aircraft was the last of the 29 Airbus A330. He joined the Emirates fleet in 2002 and flew over 60 thousand hours or 45 million km during his 14.5-year life span, which can be compared with 60 flights to the Moon and back.

Since January 2015, Emirates abandoned 18 A330 and A340 aircraft with an average age of 16.5 years. It is significantly different from the standard generally accepted in the industry. Emirates plans to phase out about 25 aircraft in 2017 and 2018 in order to guarantee the efficiency of its fleet and a high level of passenger comfort and safety.

Thanks to its change of ship policy, Emirates has one of the youngest fleets among other companies with an average aircraft age of 5.2 years.

During 2016, Emirates hired 20 new Airbus A380s and 16 Boeing 777s, including the Boeing 777-300ER with an updated business class and reduced fuel consumption.
