Dubai airport employee robbed woman deported from UAE

An officer at a Dubai airport stole a convicted woman from prison and stole 10,500 dirhams from her.

The driver of the Dubai airport was imprisoned for three months for the theft of 10.5 thousand dirhams ($ 2.86 thousand) and valuables from the bag of a woman who was sentenced to deportation from the country. A 38-year-old officer of Pakistani origin was charged with transporting the convict from the central city prison to Dubai International Airport in July.

The driver stole at the moment of transferring the woman’s luggage from the car to the departure terminal. The victim reported to the police as soon as she realized that her money and some personal items had disappeared from her bag.

A policeman from the airport said that after the victim’s message, surveillance camera records were found that confirmed the fact of theft by the accused.

The Dubai court of first instance ruled in the absence of the accused. The man was also fined an amount equivalent to the value of cash and stolen items (perfumes, watches, digital devices, glasses, etc.) - 11 thousand dirhams ($ 2.99 thousand). In addition, the accused will be deported after serving his sentence.
