Give youth!

With the onset of the first months of autumn, all parents begin a completely different life. They fall into the cycle of notebooks, textbooks, pens, pencils and erasers, returning for some time to their own childhood and youth. Agree, choosing something for your child, whether it is a first-grader or a first-year student, parents buy everything as for themselves ... After all, in our childhood, notebooks were dimmer and pencil pens are simpler. And at this time, the "culprits" of what is happening around the prelaunch preparations for the new school year are rapidly disappearing from the office supplies department and appear next to more interesting display cases that display the latest models of mobile phones, laptops, communicators, cameras and other gadgets ... This world they more understandable, and they are comfortable in it, and we, alas, we bind in it, like flies in jam. And it’s not even about age, it’s more about employment and immersion in completely different problems.

Want an example? I was presented with an iPhone with an accompanying speech, saying, “it’s not prestigious and not at all in person, it’s enough to go with the old Nokia when the whole enlightened world, and even more so the media, switched to communicators ...”, and so on, etc. I listened, delved into the instructions, moved the squares on the screen. It’s ridiculous. Everything seems to be clear. The next morning in the office - a panic, somewhere the whole phone book disappeared. How to call people? How to work? Trying to answer an incoming call, the finger slides off the arrow on the screen, the call drops. Everything. Arrived. At the next exit. Output? Like all parents who are with the technique on “You.” Call a friend! That is a daughter. She from the start, not seeing the miracle of technology in front of her, explains "where the phone book has gone, how to get it from there", along with giving valuable tips that reveal the general picture of using "such a simple and convenient iPhone" that was released (as it turned out! ) counting on "especially gifted" people like me, and everything is clear in it, like God’s day, and, by the way, "this version already" sucks "and a new, ultramodern one will be released soon." I listen, delve into it and look with sadness at the good old Nokia phone, winking at me with a dark "asleep" screen. And I understand that our children know more than we are at their age, respond more quickly to changes that take place, surf the Internet, like at home, and on sites with different language interfaces - English, Russian, French, and this doesn’t bother them . True, there has not been Chinese yet. But, I think, and this is not far off. And this is an occasion to be proud of your daughter and her peers! Our youth has super-learning abilities! We say that they are different, not like us. And thank God, and they do not need to be our copies! They are people of "X", in my opinion. It’s a pity that we often stupidly do not have enough time to listen to them, take a closer look, learn something!

We tell our children that their grandfathers at the age of 16 commanded regiments, while we do not pay attention to the fact that today's children at the age of 20 already become the leaders of leading companies and corporations, fall into the lists of the richest people in the world, come up with new fashion trends and make scientific discoveries. And let them come home after midnight, and then stick out "in these computers of their own" until the morning. The future is behind them! And ours, by the way, is also with you. Therefore, you give youth who “you won’t find in the evening, and you won’t get it in the morning”! Have a good start to the school year and new starts in the profession! And to you and me - patience, wisdom and a great "velvet season"!

Sincerely, Elena Olkhovskaya, Editor-in-Chief
