For the second time, TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel site, has nominated Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi for second place in the ranking of the most popular attractions on the planet. The result is based on millions of opinions and ratings of various visitors from around the world.

“The tremendous support provided by the wise leadership made the Mosque a main focus thanks to unique architectural solutions and charming decorations. This support is one of the main reasons for achieving such a rating, in addition to its religious status and role in establishing values for cohabitation and cultural communication, ”said Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center Ahmad Juma al-Zaabi.

He recalled that the mosque was built by more than 30 thousand workers from 30 international construction companies using materials imported from around the world, including Italy, Germany, Morocco, India, Turkey, China and Greece.

The official added that the choice of a mosque as the second most important attraction in the world is the result of the efforts of the Center and the unsurpassed services provided to all visitors, in accordance with the vision of the President of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince Abu -Dhabi and the Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the UAE, according to which Abu Dhabi should act as a beacon of tolerance and humanitarian and cultural coexistence.

In 2016, the mosque received 5,209,801 visitors; 9781 lectures and 72 thousand dinners were held in it.
