Formula 1 race in Abu Dhabi for the first time in sports history will be held under cover of darkness

The final race of the Formula 1 season of 2009 promises to go down in the history of world sports as the first race to begin in the daytime and end under cover of darkness.

The Emirate Formula -1 stage, The Abu Dhabi Grad Prix, will take place on November 1 at the new Yas Marina circuit, which has every chance of becoming one of the best in Formula 1's recent history. The race will begin at 17.00 in natural daylight, will be held during sunset and will end in the light of the spotlights at about 18.30 local time. As experts predict, on November 1, the sun will set at about 17.45.

According to Richard Cregan, chairman of the board of directors at Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management, managing the Abu Dhab Yas Marina Circuit, this will demonstrate the uniqueness of the Yas Marina complex and the opportunities it provides. “I’m sure that the spectators in the stands and the viewers at the screens will be amazed at what they see - not only great races, but no less magnificent race tracks, which we paid special attention to the coverage of,” commented Richard Cregan on the decision of the organizing committee.

Also, moving the start to the evening time will allow fans of Formula 1 in other countries to watch the live broadcast at a convenient time.
