Have you ever dreamed of a catamaran with four double cabins that can go without refueling more than 1000 miles? or a yacht with a speed of 31 knots, designed for social and business receptions for 24 people? Meanwhile, similar boats
not only exist, but also exhibited at international salons.

A novelty of the past summer was the Highland 35 flybridge motor catamaran manufactured by Fountaine Pajot. With a length of 10.5 m, he can truly "in one go" overcome the distance mentioned above if he moves at a speed of 6.5 knots. This feature is provided by two 75-hp Volvo Penta engines. each. Michel Jobert and Bernard Nivelle, the chief designers of the company, participated in its development.

Meanwhile, Feretti Yachts continues to update both old models and develop new ones. Now its lineup includes 15 varieties of yachts. The hits of this season are the “newborns” 500 Elite, 630 and 690 Altura and redesigned vessels 591 and 881. The second category also includes the Feretti 681 yacht, mentioned above, with a length of 21 meters and a forward hull. The designers who worked on updating it added two large square windows to the owner's cabin. In addition to it, the ship has a cabin for crew members and three double cabins for guests. It develops its incredible speed thanks to two engines MTU 16V 2000 M91 of 2000 hp. each.

Special attention should be paid to Egemar Liberty - the largest lobster boat to date with the GRP hull, made according to a complex recipe of Kevlar, the different layers of which are combined according to the "sandwich principle". With a weight of 40 tons, it has a draft of 0.85 meters. The ship provides for the installation of two MAN diesel turbo engines with power from 900 to 1300 hp, allowing speeds of 30 to 36 knots. Fulvio de Simoni, who designed this yacht, installed a control panel not only in the cabin, but also on the flybridge, which also provides a spacious place for sunbathing. There is also a large bathing platform and a teak-covered spacious cockpit.

These new vessels, like many others, could be seen at the Fiera de Genova exhibition, which took place less than a month after the international De Plaisance festival in Cannes. Now, professional yacht users are waiting for exhibits in Stockholm (March 3-12) and Madrid (from March 29 to April 2).

However, those whose u1082 interest in these vehicles does not go beyond mere curiosity can join the modern trends - and without leaving Dubai. To do this, you just need to be from March 14 to 18 at the International Maritime Club of the city (hotel mina Seyahi), with 25 dirhams in your pocket. From 15.00 to 21.30, the Dubai Boat Show, the annual exhibition of boats, boats and yachts, will be held there for the 14th time. It is the largest event in the shipbuilding industry in the Middle East. Ship manufacturers from the UAE and foreign countries, as well as other water transport, marine equipment and accessories, are shown here.

This year, the total exhibition area should occupy 13,787 square meters, including 7,000 square meters of outdoor space and 1,500 square meters dedicated to VIP ships, their equipment and maintenance. The stands of corporations should take another 1687 sq.m, and 3600 sq.m is allocated for related items - equipment and accessories. In the waters of the marine club mina Seyahi should accommodate 120 boats.

Among the participating countries will be Australia (firms AImEX & GCCC), Germany (DBSV), Italy (ICE & uCHINA), the Netherlands (HISWA) and New Zealand (NZ marine). New developments will also be presented by Turkey and the United Kingdom.

The exhibition provides for several thematic areas. Two of them will be located in air-conditioned rooms, providing a place, firstly, for national pavilions and stands for manufacturers of berthing equipment, and secondly, for builders of super-yachts, developing coastal infrastructure adequate to these ships, harbor equipment and related VIP services. Brokerage firms and interior design firms will also occupy their niche.

The other two expositions will be located outside; one of them will include large stands independently built by the participants. They will talk about a variety of small and medium-sized vessels, engines and equipment for water sports. Water tourism, water skiing, diving equipment and fishing equipment, as well as special literature will find their place here. In the second part, called marina Display, children under 15 years old can only get accompanied by adults. It is designed for luxury yachts and other large vessels of leading local u1080 and international manufacturers. It will not only be about the interior of super-yachts, including sailing, but also about materials for their construction and caravans for transportation.

As a result, sections of the exhibition should cover a very wide range of products and services related to yachting. These are emergency systems, navigation, service and electrical equipment, lighting equipment, equipment for fishing and windsurfing, harbor equipment and related services, accessories for repair and coating of boats, digital technologies and computer support, heating and air conditioning of salons, water pumping systems, propellers , engines and their components, ropes and cables, masts and anchors.

Each time this exhibition of boats is of increasing interest. At the last year’s exposition there were twice as many participants and guests as at the previous one. In 2006, the organizers are negotiating with 600 companies and expect 25 thousand guests. This number is comparable to the scale of water holidays that Dubai is famous for, for example, regattas for the Sheikh Cup.

But on weekdays, the shipping of the Gulf is under the scrutiny of the authorities of the emirate, who are thinking about how to make "life on water" more comfortable. Thanks to them, many guests of Dubai associate their future with artificial islands or the underwater hotel Hydropolis. In addition to the Palm Islands and the Mir archipelago, Dubai marina, Dubai Festival City and Dubai maritime City are also being built in the emirate. Demand for VIP-class vessels and equipment for the corresponding harbors and piers is growing. Boat manufacturers and related service providers are attracted by the sheer scale of investment in coastal projects.

Dubai paves the way for a market covering not only the Middle East, but also North and South Africa, India and the countries of the former Soviet Union. This market with a total GDP of $ 1.5 trillion consists of 31 countries, where people speak 53 languages, and 2 billion buyers, of which 114 million people have GDP over $ 2000. So there is nothing surprising in the fact that it becomes the Arab capital of yachting.
