Dubai Bank named Eve the first woman in the position of artificial assistant

Dubai-based Emirates NBD called Eva the first computer assistant to understand human speech in the Middle East.

The first computer banking assistant in the region of the Middle East and North Africa who understands human speech, received the name Eva (EVA).

According to a newsletter sent by Emirates NBD to its customers, Eva understands natural human speech and, depending on the questions, tries to give the most appropriate answers and recommendations.

Eva, who understands English and Arabic, is designed to significantly reduce the time that the client spent when choosing the menu items of the standard voice assistant (IVR).

Despite the fact that Eva is positioned as an intellectual assistant, the bank’s clients are not recommended to use general requests such as “credit card”, “debit card”, “I have a problem”, “connect me with an agent” and etc.

In the letter, the bank gives examples of "correct" requests to Eve, to the answers to which she is ready:

  • “I would like to activate online banking”;
  • "I lost my credit card";
  • “I would like to pay the bill for electricity and light”;
  • "I want to transfer funds between my accounts";
  • “Can I use my card when traveling abroad?”
