Restaurants in Dubai are inspected by the "Inspection of Happiness"

900 catering establishments in Dubai were inspected by the "Inspection of Happiness."

The level of happiness in society can be measured by many parameters, for example, by the level of crime or the balance between work and personal life. And you can consider safe and healthy nutrition as the foundation of a happy society.

Guided by this, last year the municipality of Dubai conducted the so-called "happiness inspection", aimed at improving food safety in the emirate.

During the campaign, it was found that half of the 900 catering establishments visited by the special inspectorate needed to increase the awareness of their employees about safety rules.

Of the 450 institutions that received low marks, 228 are working to improve the situation regarding health and safety, and 222 have already improved their ratings from low to very good.

“Dubai is a vibrant city that is an oasis for tourists and residents, attracting more than 15 million visitors a year. This number will increase as we plan to host the Expo 2020,” said Sultan Ali Al Tahir, head of food inspection in the municipality of Dubai .

"Currently, there are 17 thousand food establishments in Dubai, and this number is increasing by seven percent annually. Representatives of more than 160 nationalities work in the food industry of the emirate, which offers various dishes for different groups of people representing different cultures and customs," he added .

Through the Happiness Inspection initiative, Dubai's municipality seeks to raise standards by avoiding fines for establishments.
