The launch of the bullet train in Dubai is getting closer

Virgin Hyperloop One will open its first overseas office in Dubai.

Representatives of the American company Virgin Hyperloop One announced their intention to open an office in Dubai. He will become the first foreign representative office of the company, which plans to launch high-speed trains carrying passengers and cargo at speeds up to 1200 km / h.

Among the possibilities the press often mentions routes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as between Mumbai and Pune in India.

"We are actually creating our first office outside the US in Dubai," said Harj Dhalival, managing director for the Middle East and India, to CNN.

The concept of the so-called "bullet train" was first introduced by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk in 2013.

By December last year, Virgin Hyperloop One had raised $ 295 million from private investors and demonstrated technology at a test site in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Currently, this is one of two companies applying to create a high-speed communication system in the UAE. The second is Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT).

According to preliminary information, Virgin Hyperloop One will only need 12 minutes to transport goods and passengers between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Currently, the journey takes about 1 hour 20 minutes.

Burj Khalifa in Dubai and Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi were selected as possible stations in two cities for a bullet train.

According to Dubai Tourism, the company is also exploring the possibility of launching a line along highways. The first phase of the project may include the construction of a 20-kilometer corridor that runs parallel to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and serves areas such as Dubai South and Dubai Investment Park.
