Etisalat Launches eSIM Support for New Apple Devices in the United Arab Emirates.
On October 31, 2018, Etisalat announced that it was one of the first in the world to launch support for virtual SIM card (eSIM) for Apple devices running iOS version 12.1.
eSIM allows you to use the services of an operator without the need for a physical SIM card - data about the subscriber is stored in the telephone chip. At the same time, the new iPhone and Apple Watch have a slot for a physical card.
Now Etisalat subscribers will be able to use two mobile numbers on one device. The new technology also allows switching between local and international operators during foreign trips. eSIM is also a key component of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
