Dubai, UAE. A pleasure yacht with tourists, including Russians, sank off the coast of Dubai opposite the Jumeirah Beach Residence. As specified, the incident occurred around noon on January 3.
The police rescued 8 tourists from a sinking ship, including Russians, French and British, as well as three crew members (immigrants from Egypt and Asian countries), and brought them ashore on a rescue boat. None of them were reportedly injured.
The cost of the yacht is estimated at 5.5 million dirhams (US $ 1.5 million). It is reported that the cause of the incident was a hole in the hull, because of which the ship quickly went to the bottom 200 meters from the coast. The company that leased the yacht is engaged in its repair after towing from the scene.
