In connection with the visit of the Pope to schools in the UAE, classes will be canceled

Public and private schools in the United Arab Emirates have announced a day off in connection with a visit to the country of Pope Francis.

The Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates announced earlier this week that classes in public and some private schools in the emirates of Dubai and Sharjah will be canceled.

Schools across the country will also be closed on Tuesday, the ministry said on Twitter.

Some schools sent notifications to parents confirming that the closure was due to a visit to the UAE by Pope Francis. Recall that the head of the Catholic Church is in the United Arab Emirates from February 3 to 5.

Last week, it also became known that private sector workers who attend papal mass on Tuesday, February 5, will be given a day off.

The Department of Human Resources and Emiratization said the day off will apply to private sector workers who have permission to participate in public events at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi.
