The United Arab Emirates found out the reason for the mysterious "attacks" in territorial waters

The United Arab Emirates sent information on the results of the investigation into the May "acts of sabotage" to the UN Security Council.

The United Arab Emirates, Norway and Saudi Arabia on Thursday, June 6, 2019, informed the members of the United Nations Security Council of the preliminary results of the investigation regarding the “coordinated attacks on four oil tankers” on May 12, 2019 at the port of Fujairah.

UAE authorities conducted an investigation in coordination with international partners, whose vessels also suffered during the incident. Representatives of the states affected by the "acts of sabotage" stressed that the incident threatened international peace and security. They also thanked the members of the Council who had already supported the investigation and invited all members of the Security Council to familiarize themselves with the evidence gathered by the UAE authorities.

According to preliminary data, diversion mines installed by divers appeared in the incident, the statement said. Although the investigation is still ongoing, the affected parties have "facts that are strong evidence that the four attacks were part of a complex and coordinated operation."

Earlier, US National Security Advisor John Bolton said during a visit to the UAE that Iran was involved in "acts of sabotage."

UAE, Norway and Saudi Arabia will share preliminary investigation results with the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The UAE will also inform the organization and its members about measures to ensure the safety of maritime transport.
