Wind from the East

A new model has appeared in dealerships of the Maserati brand - the Levante executive crossover, which debuted this spring in Geneva.

The model is named after the hot east wind of the Mediterranean, which is elusively capable of moving from a light blow to heavy gusts.

The crossover with a branded trident on the radiator and “portholes” on the front wings is already equipped as standard with an air suspension with adjustable ground clearance from 187 to 247 mm. There are five adjustment modes on the way and one mode of comfortable landing-disembarkation, when the car is practically pressed with its bottom to the asphalt and there is no need to use steps and thresholds.

The ZF automatic 8-speed transmission, in turn, has four driving modes - Normal, Sport, Offroad and I.C.E. In all of them, except for "ice", the transition to manual control is allowed. In the city and on the highway, the car moves on the rear wheel drive, with changing road conditions, the Q4 multi-plate clutch automatically distributes up to 50% of the torque to the front wheels. The rear limited slip differential allows you to start and brake in a sporty way, the lowest center of gravity among existing crossovers and an equal weight distribution along the axes will also appeal to an active driving enthusiast.

A V6 gasoline engine with two turbochargers was developed and assembled by Ferrari specialists. 350-horsepower engine accelerates to hundreds in six seconds. There is also a “forced” 430-horsepower version of S, which does it in 5.2 seconds.

Elegantly streamlined on the outside in any of the 20 body colors offered, Levante is gracefully respectable inside in the best traditions of Maserati, very far from sporting asceticism. There are dozens of valuable types of wood for interior decoration, but there is also leather and silk from Ermengildo Zegna. An 8.6-inch touchscreen on the front panel allows you to read a map, monitor the condition of the car and the work of its many security systems, control the climate, as well as the acoustics. Particularly sophisticated music lovers are invited to make a difficult choice: the Harman Kardon Premium Sound System with a 12-channel amplifier or the system from Bowers & Wilkins (1280 W, 16 channels, 15 speakers) is the same as it is today in London's Abbey Road studio.
