Dubai Roads and Transport Committee begins testing Google’s unmanned vehicles.
Fully automatic cars with electric drive combine the latest advances in mobile technology. The system uses information collected by Google Street View, video cameras, a sensor mounted on the roof, radars in the front of the car and a sensor connected to one of the rear wheels, which helps to determine the position of the car. Currently, committee representatives are studying various models of smart cars and are in talks with their manufacturers.
The next step will be road tests. The committee believes that the use of such cars for tasks such as, for example, transporting passengers to public transport stops, will help to solve some of Dubai’s transport problems, reducing the need for parking spaces.
