Dinner at Portofino

NO, THIS IS NOT A DREAM: EVAN MACGREGOR IN SMOKING HANDS A DISH WITH CUTTERS AND FRESH KEPHALU KATE BLANCHETTE AND EMILY BLANT, WHEN CRYSTOP WALTZ KINDLY SPILLS BIT. THIS HAPPENS IN SUMMER IN PORTOFINO. WHICH SUMMER? EVERYONE.

Tigullio Bay, lush gardens, an ancient abbey, narrow steep streets. This is Portofino, the famous resort of the Italian Riviera, seen many celebrities, movie stars and millionaires. But what is it? Ancient stones again illuminated by the spotlights, you hear the familiar commands of the photographer ... It can not be! Cate Blanchett, Emily Blunt, Zhou Xun, Ewan McGregor and Christoph Waltz have a casual conversation in the cafe on the outdoor terrace. At the bar in fascinating outfits are Carolina Kurkova and Adriana Lima. Is it shooting a blockbuster at the same time as a fashion show?

As it turned out, this is a project of the famous photographer Peter Lindberg, who decided to capture Portofino, but not the "postcard" views, but his real life, for which he turned to his long-time friend with whom he had collaborated more than once - the president of IWC watchmaking Georges Kern. According to Lindberg, Kern instantly organized a "theater troupe that only the IWC can do." Moreover, the occasion turned out to be successful.

The manufactory just launched the new Portofino Midsize line in more elegant 37 mm cases. Now in the new sizes are presented the well-known Portofino Automatic Moon Phase, Portofino Automatic Day & Night and the classic Portofino Automatic. New items are made in steel or pink gold cases (also with diamond inlay) and complemented by a variety of bracelets and straps, including those made by the famous Italian shoe house Santoni exclusively for IWC. The new midsize size models seem to play on the contrast between rigor and beauty, and are therefore equally attractive to both men and women. The watch has become an organic part of the props of the film project.

Unlike the 2010 photo shoot, when Lindberg created a dolce vita stylization in Portofino of the 1950s, this time the master wanted everything to look completely natural, and therefore he asked actors and models to lead the usual life of friends on vacation - to walk around the city, through the famous gardens. And in the evening, of course, dine on the terrace of the legendary Splendido Hotel, where Richard Burton made an offer to Elizabeth Taylor.

As a result, Lindberg managed to capture Portofino with what the heroes of the photo shoot themselves saw - the stars of the big screen: romantic, happy, timeless, living at the same time past, present and future. It is no coincidence that the delightful series of photographs that arose from the master’s lens was called Timeless Portofino.

Like the new watches, this photo exhibition is exclusive in its own way: it is available only to those who have a good taste and desire to enjoy life, because together with Portofino Midsize went on a world tour to present watches with a rather unusual program. Starting with the Zurich Film Festival in September, this series of photographs was then presented at the Watches & Wonders in Hong Kong, the London Film Festival and the exclusive Dubai exhibition in October. But the photo exhibition plans to complete its tour in December at Art Basel, in Miami. Having visited this photo exhibition, you understand the main idea of Lindberg and IWC: the value of an instant depends only on who managed to capture it.
