Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the United Arab Emirates

The year 2011 marks a particularly important chapter in the history of the creation and development of the United Arab Emirates - exactly 40 years ago, on December 2, 1971, the rulers of scattered emirates came together to decide on a unification into a single state. In honor of the 40th anniversary of the formation of the United Arab Emirates on December 2, 1971, numerous celebratory events will be held in the country for 40 days, culminating directly on December 2 of this year. The organization and conduct of the celebrations is handled by a committee specially created by the authorities - the National Day Committee, which cooperates with official representatives of each emirate, government agencies, public groups, the private sector and the public.

In the UAE's capital emirate, Abu Dhabi, it is planned, in particular, to hold 3D light shows that will be shown on the walls of the Great Mosque named after Sheikh Zayed (Grand Mosque) and the ancient fort Al Jahili (Al Jahili Fort), which is a historical architectural monument of the oasis city of Al Ain. In all cities of the capital and other emirates, festive decorations, national flags and garlands are hung. On the Abu Dhab embankment (Corniche), a festival with carnival processions is planned, during which small street performances will be shown. Here you will also find traditional dishes of the Emirate cuisine, concerts, music and sports events.

The concert program dedicated to the National Day of the UAE will demonstrate the diversity and richness of Arab musical culture through concert performances of the highest class, which will bring together popular singers and singers of the Emirates and countries of the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Persian Gulf.

The exhibition pavilion UAE Experience Pavilion, which will host an exhibition dedicated to the ethnographic and cultural heritage of the country, will complement these events. Most of its exposition is unique exhibits and photographs related to the past, present and future of the UAE, which have never been shown before. The exhibition pavilion is located on the island of Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi.

The grand parade The Vehicle Parade, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the UAE, will be held on the Yas Marina Circuit. 5 thousand cars will take part in it, the owners of which will paint their cars in the traditional colors of the UAE and set the country's flags on them. Following the automobile, orchestral, costume and children's parades will take place. Numerous celebrations and events will end with a special official ceremony and a large-scale choreographic show, scheduled for December 2, 2011. It will be held at the stadium of the sports town Zayed Sports City. It is expected that this holiday show, which is dedicated to the heritage and culture of the UAE, the spirit of the Emirate people and their achievements over the past 40 years, will be visited by more than 40 thousand spectators.

Numerous celebrations and competitions dedicated to the culture and traditions of the country will be held in all departments and branches of the Dubai municipality.

The theme of the competition is love for one’s country and the unity of the nation. It should be noted that all state and private companies of the country, including the largest shopping centers and hotels, actively participated in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the UAE. In each of them, guests and residents of the UAE expect numerous surprises and colorful performances. So, during all holidays, a special festive lottery will be held at the Mall of the Emirates, 40 winners of which will receive cash prizes worth a total of 40 thousand dirhams (US $ 10 928). The Deira City Center shopping center in Dubai will host a special “newspaper” exhibition. The exhibits will be copies of newspapers published over 40 years, which reflected certain stages of the country's development, achievements, the life of the nation and its heritage. In addition, until December 3 of this year, all visitors to the Deira City Center will be able to take part in prize lotteries. For every 200 dirhams spent on purchases (US $ 54), customers will receive instant winning lottery tickets, which will increase their chances of winning the Grand Prize draw grand prize, which will amount to 40 thousand dirhams (US $ 10,929).
