Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport will be the largest in the world in 2018

After allocating $ 3 billion to expand airports in Dubai, it became known that the expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport was postponed for a year.

It became known that the second largest airport in Dubai - Al Maktoum International Airport - will become the largest in the world after the completion of work in 2018. A year later than the announced terms, it will be able to serve 26 million passengers a year, compared with about 7 million people today, a representative of Dubai Airports said.

Last Sunday, the Dubai government announced securing long-term funding of $ 3 billion to expand its airports, which are projected to serve 146.3 million passengers by 2025 by joint efforts.

Dubai Government Finance Department, DOF, Dubai Investment Corporation and Dubai Aviation City Corporation have announced the successful signing of a loan agreement with Airport Financing Company FZE, FINCO.

Al Maktoum Airport, located near Jebel Ali, is gradually expanding to unload Dubai International Airport, which is currently the busiest in the world, and also serves as the base for Emirates Airlines.

Dubai Airports Executive Director Paul Griffiths said in January that flydubai will transfer operations from Dubai International Airport to Al Maktoum Airport in the third quarter of this year. Emirates also plans to relocate in 2025.

This year, passenger traffic through two international airports in Dubai will reach just over 90 million people, according to the operator’s representative.
