UAE residents will be taught to survive when meeting with a shark

Abu Dhabi and Fujairah will host workshops for divers on how to deal with sharks.

Dubai, UAE. Sharks Institute (Sharks Educational Institute) will hold workshops for divers in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah on the life of marine predators and the rules of behavior when meeting with them in the coastal waters of the United Arab Emirates.

According to ecologists, as a result of the industrial development of the marine area, shark habitats were destroyed, as a result of which their number off the coast of the UAE has decreased by 50% over the past 30 years, and several species - for example, the reef, Arabian bamboo and gray bamboo sharks - are under threatened with extinction.

The seminars will be devoted to the conservation of marine fauna. First, classes will be held in classrooms, and then in the coastal waters of Dibba, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, where a meeting with sharks is most likely. Divers will be able to put their knowledge into practice, take pictures and videos of predators, measure their length and behavior.
