Passport control at the airport can be completed in 20 seconds

The Directorate General for Residency and International Relations is about to launch a new Smart Gate service at Dubai Airport, which will make it easier for travelers to go through passport control, both on departure and on arrival. Passengers will be able to use the eGate system, already operational today, where you do not need to show your passport or ID. In addition, you will not need to re-register a valid eGate card.

In fact, the new measure is an application that will be installed in the eGate system: it will read the biometric data of the passenger when passing through the turnstile and thereby identify it. Thus, the passport control procedure will be reduced to 20 seconds. The system will be fully operational within 18 months. It is worth recalling that today more than 100 eGate turnstiles have been installed in Dubai's air harbor, which were used by more than 340 thousand passengers.
